Volunteer Drivers Needed – Mileage Allowance

Jun 07, 2022

The Norfolk Refugee Committee welcomed a family of 5 Syrian refugees this past April. As part of their re-settlement process in Canada, the 3 children (ages 7 – 11) will attend summer day camp in Simcoe.  Camp hours are 9 – 4 pm Monday through Friday, 4 weeks in total.  Drivers are needed to pick the children up and drop them off.  The home and camp are both in Simcoe, but too far for the children to walk.

The parents will attend ESL classes in Brantford beginning in September from 9am to 2pm Monday through Friday. The family lives in Simcoe and ESL is in Brantford. Drivers are needed for the morning run from Simcoe to Brantford and the afternoon return trip.

Drivers are compensated at the rate of $0.50 a kilometre for every kilometre driven.  If you have some time to spare, please consider contacting me for more information. This is a very rewarding experience and your efforts would be invaluable in helping the family settle in Canada. We would welcome any help you can provide, even if you think it is minimal, it would be significant to us.
